Her Little Hand In Mine

HER LITTLE HAND IN MINE

A new little life at our house,
Complete with eternal soul ~
Someone to cuddle and play with,
New reason to set higher goals...
In the past I may have been careless ~
Now, I ask for guidance divine
For in my mind I've a picture
Of her little hand in mine.

She'll follow. I know, all my footprints,
And be known by the names that I wear,
So I'll make my decisions in earnest ~
I'll choose with still greater care;
For I know she'll copy my motions ~
She'll know when I step out of line;
Lord, help me to live so I'm worthy
Of her little hand in mine!

It's only a thin silver ribbon ~
This life so quickly can pass!
Just what I teach her of Jesus
Will for all of eternity last!
God. help me keep my affections
And hers, attached firmly to Thine ~
And walk toward the promise of Heaven
With her little hand in mine!

Matthew 7:24-27
Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:
 And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.
 And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:
And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

The Broken Harp

The Broken Harp
by Joan Clifton Costner

In the corner of the basement
Stood a cobweb-covered harp -
Broken now and so forsaken,
There it stood back in the dark.
No one in the little village
Could repair the harp again -
And you'd never guess the music
Or the places it had been.

Came a ragged man a beggin'
For a place out of the cold;
He was bent and slightly limpin'
He was lookin' frail and old.
So the houseman gave permission -
He could sleep upon the floor
Of the basement where was kept
The harp with melody no more.

Soon the house was filled with music!
'Twas as sweet as angels bring.
And the household came a-runnin'
Just to see the vibrant strings!
Dusted now, it stood in beauty,
Every web was cleared away;
And the ragged man was singing
Very softly as he played.

In his song he told the story
How he'd made that harp when new;
Since he'd made its first beginning
Fixing wasn't hard to do.
And, dear friend, if you are needing
Just a touch from God above...
Just remember Who has made you.....
He can "fix" you with His love.

He can fill the empty corners
Of your heart with song anew;
He can take each day and make
A special melody for you!
He can fix the broken pieces
Better even than before -
And open wide the storehouse
Of His blessing evermore!
