Love Broke Through ~ Jerry Bouey

Love Broke Through

~song~

I left my shelter, wandered out into harm;
My faith grew so weak in the path of the storm.
A trial of my choosing; no one else to blame;
But His love broke through when I called on His name.

Chorus:
Love broke through the clouds, Love scattered the rain;
God’s love brought healing in the midst of my pain.
When the wind and the waves were all I could view,
Jesus calmed the storm, and His love broke through.

The wind rose so sudden, the thunder now roared;
I was all but sinking; my faith came unmoored.
A trial to test me – how could I survive?
Love broke through and showed me, “My Saviour’s alive!”

When loved ones were drowning; all seemed nearly lost,
I wanted to save them, whatever the cost;
But my strength was useless – oh, what could I do?
I called on the Saviour, and His love broke through.

When the wind and the waves were all I could view,
Jesus calmed my storm, and His love broke through.

Matthew 8:23-27 And when he (Jesus) was entered into a ship, his disciples followed him. And, behold, there arose a great tempest in the sea, insomuch that the ship was covered with the waves: but he was asleep. And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish. And he saith unto them, Why are ye so fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. But the men marvelled, saying, What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?

Matthew 14:24-33 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth, thou art the Son of God.

In My Weakness ~ Joan Clifton Costner

In My Weakness

When you’re lost in a sea of indifference,
When you’re drowning, but nobody cares,
When it seems all is lost, though you’ve paid the high cost
And you can’t pierce the ceiling with prayers;
When you’re standing for right ~ but alone in your fight ~
When your heart is breaking in two;
Dear friend, just recall the sparrows that fall ~
He really does care for you.
Sometimes in losing, we win more,
And sometimes the battle’s not o’er;
Sometimes the struggle brings forth the strength
To raise us up where eagles soar.
When we have reached the high places
And we gaze at the valley below
The tapestry woven, will look from above
Like it never could from here below.
God does have a plan and a purpose,
And things never happen by chance;
What you see through the lens with study
Is not just the same as a glance.
So when troubles and trials beset you,
Hold on! And study with care!
And you’ll find the trace of His finger -
You’ll know he is answering prayer!
It is not just the present and past He can see -
And it’s not just the loss or the win;
But He sees beyond and He sees results -
He knows how the twig turns and bends.
I like to think that each twist and turn
In this gnarled old bark of mine,
Drove my roots deeper still, seeking guidance until
They’re forever entwined in Thine!

When You Thought I Wasn’t Looking

When You Thought I Wasn’t Looking

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I immediately wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you feed a stray cat, and I learned that it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you make my favorite cake for me and I learned that the little things can be the special things in life.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I heard you say a prayer, and I knew there is a God I could always talk to and I learned to trust in God.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you make a meal and take it to a friend who was sick,
and I learned that we all have to help take care of each other.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you give of your time and money to help people who had nothing
and I learned that those who have something should give to those who don’t.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw you take care of our house and everyone in it
and I learned we have to take care of what we are given.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw how you handled your responsibilities,
even when you didn’t feel good
and I learned that I would have to be responsible when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw tears come from your eyes and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it’s all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I learned most of life’s lessons that
I need to know to be a good and productive person when I grow up.

When you thought I wasn’t looking,
I looked at you and wanted to say, “Thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn’t looking.”

A RHYME OF RHYMES ~ About Hymns ~ Judie Pickett

A RHYME OF RHYMES
by Judie Pickett © 2007

JESUS PAID IT ALL
Is a song we often sing
He's our SOLID ROCK
He makes me A CHILD OF THE KING

I COUNT MY BLESSINGS
Because He LIFTED ME
For I KNOW WHOM I HAVE BELIEVED
Since I HAVE BEEN REDEEMED

WHEN THE MORNING COMES
I SURRENDER ALL
His SPIRIT NOW LIVES IN ME
I'm included in THE FAMILY OF GOD

He said I'm SAVED, SAVED
And there's ROOM AT THE CROSS
If I TELL IT TO JESUS
I will not be lost.

HE HIDETH MY SOUL
When he INCLUDED ME
He died AT THE CROSS
AT CALVARY

BECAUSE HE LIVES
IT IS WELL WITH MY SOUL
MY LORD IS NEAR ME ALL THE TIME
And now I'm WHITER THAN SNOW

FAITH IS THE VICTORY
WHEN HEAVEN CAME DOWN
As I stand IN THE GARDEN
I'm on HOLY GROUND

We sing these songs
To praise our Lord
To give Him the glory
As we sing His Word

This poem was not meant
To be shallow or unwholesome
But a loving tribute
To those who wrote them.

Lord, I Believe ~ Joan Clifton Costner

Lord, I Believe

I ask the same searching questions
My grandmother asked long ago;
The same God that comforted her fears
Will comfort mine too, I know.
The same stars shone down on my mother,
The heavens change little it seems,
And life comes and goes like a vapor ~
The same thoughts invade all men’s dreams.
We search so hard to find answers,
Through space and through eons of time;
Through microscopes, atoms, equations,
We search for a reasoning mind.
But He told us that it was so simple
A child would not err therein;
He told us that Faith was the answer,
And Grace freely saved us from sin.

Suppose all of God, the Almighty
Was laid out in ultimate proof,
Suppose equations and answers
At last gave us positive proof;
How would our Faith work within us?
Would we dare call it “Faith” again?
Could Trusting be labeled as real Trust?
Could Grace be bestowed on us then?
Once He said we had Moses and prophets ~
Indicating that, that was enough,
And continuing Grace, Love and Guidance
Tells my heart it avails from above;
For as God placed the stars in the heavens
To shine on for eternity
So the Faith in my heart grows and blossoms !
It is truly enough for me!’
Lord, I believe!

~ Wild Seas ~ Joan Clifton Costner

~ Wild Seas ~
The waters of the Lord are deep
And, when the gales begin,
I snuggle deeper, deeper,
Until I’m lost in Him.
For, the turbulence that travels,
Across the surface wild,
Cannot reach deep and trouble
His, fully, trusting child.

Were I on top, my eyes would hold
The pictures of despair;
Just like Peter’s wonder at
The violence with care.
But, when you’re resting deeper down,
It doesn’t bother so ~
And you’ll find wisdom widens as you go!

So, draw me deeper, deeper, Lord.
Keep my eyes fixed on You
‘Til, when the sudden wind appears,
I’ll know just what to do!
Draw me, by Jesus' precious love,
To deeper, richer, life with You.
Bring strength and victory that day,
Because You promised to.

A Secret Place ~ Joan Clifton Costner

A Secret Place

A Secret Place: a hallowed chamber,

Apart from worldly snares;

A place where I may feel my Lord
And understand He cares .
A place where all anxiety flees,

Far away and fast;

Where love can flow so pure and free,
And all my burdens pass ...
And there, where morning light first falls

And warms the inner heart;

Where evening light still lingers ~
Setting secret things apart.

I learn, from out the heart of God,
Cherished deeds that He holds dear.
I take the time and listen,
For, I love to feel Him near.
I’m taught the secrets of His heart.

I count the hours gold

And thank Him for His precious love,
That’s mine to have and hold!

Oh, Heaven, My Heaven ~ Joan Clifton Costner

Oh, Heaven, My Heaven

Oh, heaven, my heaven,
How blue is your sky?
How clear are your waters?
How does the land lie?

Oh heaven, my heaven,
Created for me
By an Architect so glorious
That angels can see!

Oh, heaven, my haven
Away from all cares;
My ultimate home,
The land Jesus shares.

And, the Love of the Lord
Shall be everywhere
Throughout verdant valleys,
Filling the air.

Oh, heaven, my heaven,
I long so for thee ...
Yet, not for the place
But the person I'll be.

All the dross and impurity,
Forever, away ...
Oh, heaven, my heaven;
Eternity's day!

Woman of God ~ Patricia Bankhead

Woman of God
by Patricia Bankhead

People wonder how you keep smiling
When things are falling apart
They wonder how you can forgive
When someone has broken your heart

People wonder how you can give
When you're down to your last dime
They wonder how you manage
When you give so much of your time

People wonder how you resist
When temptations are all around
They wonder how you keep standing
When problems weigh you down

People wonder how you survive
When you're fighting against the odds
They wonder what's the secret ingredient
When it's because you're a woman of God

I Refuse To Be Discouraged

I Refuse To Be Discouraged

I refuse to be discouraged, To be sad, or to cry;
I refuse to be downhearted, and here’s the reason why:
I have a God who’s mighty, Who’s sovereign and supreme;
I have a God who loves me, and by grace I’m on His team.
He is all-wise and powerful. Jesus is His name;
Though everything is changeable, My God remains the same.
My God knows all that’s happening; Beginning to the end;
His presence is my comfort; He is my dearest Friend.
When sickness comes to weaken me,
To bring my head down low,
I call upon my mighty God; Into His arms I go.
When circumstances threaten to rob me of my peace;
He draws me close unto His breast, Where all my strivings cease.
When my heart melts within me, and weakness takes control;
He gathers me into His arms, He soothes my heart and soul.
The great “I AM” is with me. My life is in His hand.
The “Son of the Lord” is my hope. It’s in His strength I stand.
I refuse to be defeated. My eyes are on my God;
He has promised to be with me, As through this life I trod.
I’m looking past all my circumstances, To Heaven’s throne above;
My prayers have reached the heart of God I’m resting in His love.
I give God thanks in everything. My eyes are on His face;
The battle’s His, the victory mine; He’ll help me win the race.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!!!

The End ~ Joan Clifton Costner

Listen To Song    WhenIGetWhereImGoing.
The End

So we come now to the end,
And the double line is drawn.
Finality, with only precious
Clay to look upon.
A face that I have loved for aye -
And known for all my life;
Whose smile I watched for always
Through the sunshine and the strife.
But there was more that genes that held
Our lives and hearts and souls,
A common thread that really counts
The most when growing old.
Our mutual trust in Jesus -
Even loving that dear name,
Made us more than kin - we shared
A Hope that was the same.

The End is the beginning -
It’s Coronation Day!
The crown you've won, upon your head,
Now yours to give away.
So cast it at His nail-scarred feet!
It’s filled with jewels so fine;
And wait a bit - I'm just behind,
And I will give Him mine!
